Our Story
When God wants two people to meet he just flat makes it happen.
In 2015, Elizabeth got on a plane to Corpus Christi and it just so happened Murphey Henk, her long time Highland Park friend and my college roommate, was on the same flight. She was headed to Port A, while Murphey was headed to Rockport to hang out with me and the rest of our TCU entourage. They were surprised to see each other, but neither thought much of it. One year later they were on the same flight heading to do the same thing. Elizabeth, being the single adventurous young woman she was, decided to inquire about this friend from San Antonio Murphey was continuing to visit at the coast. Needless to say she was impressed and intrigued by the the time they touched down.
She became so intrigued in fact that the following week she wrote me a Facebook message... I created some suspense by delaying my response. In time, I excitedly responded with my phone number. Granted, I had asked Murphy a lot of the same questions the week before and was equally interested in her. This excitement and interest lasted a full year as we texted and wrote back and forth about football, fishing, and food until the time and distance between San Antonio and Dallas pushed us apart.
Even though Elizabeth and I had only really known each other as modern age pen pals, after months without talking I found myself sincerely missing her and I knew I had to meet her. I decided to give it another shot.
I reached out to her and found out we'd both be back at the coast in March (2017). As fate would have it, we ended up at the same restaurant in Rockport that Friday night. We didn't get to speak much that evening and it was another 2 months until our first date but I believe it was that moment, that we finally looked each other in the eyes after almost 2 years, that we both knew we had something special.

The Proposal
On the second night of our trip in Telluride, along with both sets of parents, we took a jeep tour to the top of the ski mountain for sundowners at Alpino Vino. Upon arrival to the deck of the bar, I noticed we couldn't quite see the views I had hoped - so my genius idea was to hike the ski run to the top so we could take a group photo. No one wanted to go other than Chase - little did I know I was falling perfectly into his plan.
So up we went! (It was quite the hike I might add.) Once we finally reached the top, both out of breath, I immediately started snapping photos. It was that perfect "twilight" time of day where the sun highlighted everything from the changing color of the aspen trees, to the different tones of the rocky mountaintops, & the sky turned shades of colors you can't put into words. As we sat there taking in the sights, we could hear the echos of laughter coming from our parents down at Alpino Vino. Chase casually lead into a beautiful conversation about how unique it is for two sets of parents to get along so well & how fun our future will be to all together .... my heart stopped a bit. Then all of the sudden several hang gliders take off from the top of the ski lift & glide out into the sunset. It was beautiful! All the while, we still hear laughter coming from down the mountain. I ask if we should head down to join the fun, but before I could to my feet Chase was on one knee.
"Baby, will you marry me?"
"Yes, yes, yes!"
We were able to pause & ask the Lord to join us in this next phase of our lives right there on the top of the mountain, on a Sunday night, where we could see the infinite beauty he created for us. With lots of joyful tears, ear to ear smiles, big hugs & even FaceTime - we celebrated the night away with our family. A truly remarkable evening!
